Sensible Leadership for Athens-Clarke County
My name is Brandon Shinholser and I am currently running for Mayor of Athens-Clarke County. I declared my candidacy on April 8, 2008, and directly jumped into the political arena.
I am highly committed to bringing a new brand of leadership to this historical town. My leadership will consist of a pragmatic system that works for the people. I believe in strong leadership that will bring people together, while embracing open and clean government policies.
I am a proud member of the U.S. Centrist Party and I cherish all sides of the political spectrum. I believe that our political divide has caused a lot of our current problems. I will serve as an ambassador to our community; making sure that everyone has a voice and that everyone comes together.
We can successfully improve our way of life by becoming fiscally responsible, promoting ecological wisdom, encouraging small business, strengthening our public safety, investing in creativity, education, and innovation. Instead of looking for a quick fix, we should be thinking of solutions that will benefit us in the short term and in the long term.
I am a strong proponent for a balanced budget, less spending, and a sensible tax policy. We must start by eliminating unnecessary spending and working together with all members of the Athens community. I am indepedent of special interest and will always make decisions based on the common good of the people of Athens.
On election day, the power of the city is in the hands of fellow citizens who choose to give their input. I can offer Athens my commitment to leadership that places the voice of the people first and responsible administration for the city of Athens. I hope that you will give me your support in the election of 2010.
